How It Works
Enter a start and end date and select your Australian state or territory. The calculator counts every day in the range, excludes weekends (Saturday and Sunday), and subtracts applicable public holidays for your selected state.
The result shows total calendar days, weekend days, public holidays falling within the range, net working days, full working weeks, and any remaining partial-week days. Public holidays that fall on weekends and are observed on the following Monday are handled correctly.

How many working days are there in each month?
Most months have 20-23 working days. February typically has 20, months with 31 days have 22-23, and months with 30 days have 21-22. Public holidays reduce the count further depending on when they fall.
Does this include state public holidays?
Yes. Select your state or territory and the calculator will include both national and state-specific public holidays (such as Melbourne Cup Day in Victoria or Recreation Day in Tasmania).
How do I calculate working days for a project deadline?
Enter today's date as the start date and your deadline as the end date. The calculator shows exactly how many working days you have, accounting for weekends and public holidays — essential for realistic project planning.
Are RDOs (rostered days off) counted as working days?
Our calculator does not deduct RDOs as these vary by industry, enterprise agreement and individual rosters. Subtract any scheduled RDOs manually from the working days count for your specific situation.
